Jackson St. Boys&Girls Club became known as “Home” for a lot of Kids, Teens ,and Young Adults of my generation. It was a place where Character and Heart was built, a place where somebody could make a name for their self and become a somebody. There were many things available such as Libraries for children who enjoy the luxury of free books, Computer Labs for easy access to the internet, Before & After care designed for parents who work early morning to later night shifts, as well as Recreational Gyms, Game Rooms, and Art rooms set up to allow energy to be released in some sort of way. Listed below are the different reasons people initially sent their children to recreational centers and why people feel although they are good for the community:

-Availability

-Keeping Kids off the streets -Keeping Kids occupied -Community awareness -Giving Kids a place to go -Feeling good because of being there and being accepted -Exercise, fitness & conditioning

I feel although not having this facility open is not only hurting the people who grew up in and around it, but its also robbing young people out of a childhood. Not all kids are gifted /talented enough to make the athletic teams at their schools, but with the Boys & Girls Club it gives a vast amount of activities and sports children of all ages regardless of their physical abilities. With allowing children to be their self and giving them opportunities it eliminates the chances of them turning to violence, drugs, jail and even suicide. Below are benefits and intensions of the Boys & Girls Club being re-opened:

Personal Benefits: Exercise, fitness & conditioning Fun and entertainment Learning and education Relaxation Health Social Benefits: Getting to know people Group participation Interaction of adults and kids Community awareness Team spirit Facility Benefits: Having instructional classes The joy of playing A place to go A place for recreation Exposure to arts Crafts Watching organized sports and participating
