While I disagree with this characterization, I do think that the APA's permissive stance, as detailed above, associates the membership with a reputation of ethical weakness. Instead of "givin' 'em somethin' to talk about," the APA should assert its moral fortitude and spare the field's professionals from unwarranted disrepute.
