Russell IrwinJust left Virgin Media. My god I'm happy, going to get Sky + BeBroadband. Don't care how much more it costs so long as I never have to speak to VM again. Was with them for 5 weeks and had no TV and Broadband for 4 weeks and 5 days. 1st muppet installer simply disconnected my neighbour and plugged me into their cable. 2nd installed re-connected by neighbour and disconnected me without bothering to tell me. 3rd installed explained the above but could do nothing citing that a new cable was needed from the top of the street. 4th installer didn't turn up and VM didn't bother to call. Finally found out that there was a car parked over a manhole that they needed access to. 5th installer claimed that they would need to dig up the street as my cable didn't go anywhere. He had no idea about the manhole under the car. Once I pointed this out to him he said that they would come back every 2 weeks and if there was no car parked over the manhole then they'd do the job. Said it could take up to 6 months, I kid you not. Not much more to say other than really look forward to the day VM go under as they surely deserve to.
Shirish MistryI completely agree with you that choosing Virginmedia has been the worst decision I have ever made. Unbelieveably bad service since the day of installation. The engineer came in for 5 mins, said he'll be back in 5 mins and never came back. Another engineer was sent 5 hours after the first one turned up, he made a mess in my house, rushed the job, was unable to install the phone, had no PIN for broadband, cut my BT cable when I asked him not to and did not even give me a demo on how to use the V+ box. I'm still trying to get this all resolved as my phone line still does not work. More than happy to sign this petition.
laetitia muirAwful service from Virgin!
D NEAFCYI have been a virgin media customer for over 12 months and in that time have had to ring them at least once a month EVERY month with problems steming from phoneline not reciving incoming calls, tv being cut off, no broadband signal, reciving a bill one month then none the next and just about everything in-between, to cut a looooooong story short today there "customer" service team rang me to disguss the problem, it was a lady named gill from wythenshawe faults team whom made maggie thatcher seem like a pussy cat, I have geniunly never been spoken to as arrogantly and condasending in my life, when I asked to be put through to her manager I was cut off, I have now reduced my package from the v-i-p (ha ha more like r-i-p!!) to the basic package and will be switching to another provider asap, Virgin media does not deserve peoples hard earned monry as they have no appreciation for us the customer. and next time I see Samuel L Jackson ill be sure to bring this to his attention!
lorraineVM broadband is totally rubbish, moreoften offline that online, really slow
AnonymousUsing the 20Mb Package and i never ever have above 5Mb, maybe at 4am in the morning - but useless, no? High pings & the default DNS servers were so bad i was practically forced to switch to OpenDNS. Email servers are slow and often delay emails for days at a time.
Darren W20mb service is an absolute disgrace. I cant remember the last time I hit a download speed greater than 7mb, or equally as important...a latency lower than 600ms. Browsing is almost as slow as dial-up and thats NO EXAGERATION. Was promised an improvement around 6th March 08, as thats when my area 'supposedly' upgraded to the new 2-tier platform/infrastructure. Im still waiting. "Faster than a speeding bullet" .... Id happily stand in front of the gun whilst somebody pulls the trigger
daniel knoxWe moved over to virgin in 2007 summer time. At first our internet was brilliant connecting with the exchange at 8mb/s and obtaining a download speed of around 6mb/s. However in the last few months our internet has severally dropped. Around 4pm till 10pm our internet struggles to around 77kb/s downspeed but 365kb/s upspeed. Our equipment is up to date and a we certainly do not have virus's or trojans (linux user). We cant run any torrent services and rarely do now so we dont think we are being capped. If they are they seem to cap you then turn away and never review you. At the moment we struggle to run more than one service on our internet. Either a game or skype in use will bring all web browsing to a hault. Iplayer doesnt work period. Service is hence terrible! Having to pipe internet through my own caching service and DNS servers to try and counter virgins awlful speeds to some degree. Looking into changing to a better providor so no longer have to put up with rubbish customer service on hold lines and lousey dialup equivallant web speeds.
Edward LilleyNo problems with payments yet, but regularly getting download speeds less than 10 kb/s. Yet another example of Virgin Media selling mroe bandwidth than they can provide.
Anonymousi thought AOL were bad...These people are taking all their customers as idiots..ripping as many people off as they can & forcing people into VERBAL contracts without their knowing.Virgin Media are Very underhand,Very cunning & the service they provide is the worst out of all these big companies,PAH! crap.we have to call Virgin every 3 weeks due to wrong bills,in 3 diff accounts for this address! i EMPLORE anyone thinking of signing up to VIRGIN STOP! if your on the fone to them now HANG UP! as soon as you give them your details they've got you..your f****.
NJI seriously hope Virgin Media go bust when they start disconnecting people for using torrents. They make out like I'm the criminal for downloading the Simpsons... Well if they were not so good at annoying the 'duck' out of everyone including Rupert Murdoch then I wouldn't have to. Not that I support or defend Rupert Murdoch in any way; He is a much shadier charachter than Richard Branson & the pair of them are criminals in my opinion. Unlimited Broadband my eye - THAT'S A BLATANT LIE. Why Ofcom fails to do anything about it is beyond me. It's just like everything else in this country at the moment - shocking is not the word, the words I want to inject into this forum I can't, because unlike Virgin Media I am not on a mission to offend & intimidate the masses. It's time people took a stand, not just against ISPs but the whole ducking police state we're sleepwalking into. They're going to play the pedophile card next, they're not interested in pedophiles or protecting children though, they interested in controlling every aspect of your (what will be) pathetic lives.
AndyBeen with Blueyonder/Virgin Media for over 5 years and have seen a gradual decline in the quality of my connection (ie lost connections and slowdown). Blueyonder and Telewest were market leaders at one point with almost zero complaints and high levels of customer satisfaction. I know its tough at the top, but they must have done something right to get there, use that formula VirginM and get the service back to the same high standard as Bluyonder had it!!
AnonymousI have only been with Virgin Broadband for 3 weeks I have paid for unlimited but only ever received between 1KB and 1.5 MB. This is a total scam. They had to test the line for the first 10 days -so 1KB at most times -but I was still charged for unlimited. The line test stopped and they immediately capped the line without warning. I have an online degree course but have to work in the local internet cafe as we are not allowed to watch the lectures online due to the 'Fair Usage Policy"?
AnonymousMy problem with virgin media is that i was allocated a telephone number for a completely different area to which i live and i get constant phone calls for a Mr Andrew Learmont one of which was from virgin media! I have telephone several times to complain and written to the complaints department who told me that was the number they were providing and tough! I informed them that i would be looking for a new provider and they told me you do that then clearly they do not value there customers. I have also found it very difficult to speak with there customer advisors as none of them can speak proper english! I will be removing virgin media as soon as my contract is up!
AnonymousI am appalled by the complete lack of service we receive from Virgin and the utter stupidity of some of the things they ask you to do when you ring and complain about lack of broadband service - I work from home a lot of the time and it is now almost impossible to send and receive emails with any degree of reliability - a single email with no attachments can take up to 5 minutes to send.
Elaine MarshallFinally canceled all 3 services last week, 30 days notice. Only just found about the new day time traffic management as I got hit today. This company are now taking the Michael, What should be a 20mb connection is really a 5mb or below for over 10 hours per day. I ordered the 20mb connection as I use it for streaming and catch up tv, not anymore I won't be. Back to BT and BE Unlimited
AnonymousHave been a customer of virgin since 2006. Recently rang to cancel the contract, but they refused. The reason being that they had someone elses name on the account. I have all bills since the contract started, and they all clearly show my name on the account, yet they still refuse to close it., leaving me no choice but to refuse payment
AnonymousVirgin are getting very poor with customer servce and the quaility of their services that we pay for, esspecially with the broadband and the HD content. It needs changing now or our bills reducing!
Antonella MenhennetI am at my wits end, Virgin's customer service is extremely poor.
tomcrap crap crap service sine the took over all ive had is problems one after another tv service is forever going down last time for 3days !! did i get a discount on my bill no as it was not virgins fault ? well it sure as hell wast mine !! sky is on it way without a doubt richard branson can go get money for his high life from some other muppet this one just cut his strings
AnonymousWe have only been with Virgin since 30/05/2008 what a nightmare to resolve anything. I have just typed up a 3 page letter to send of to matrix court as thats where I have been tld to send it by virgin staff
Anonymousall of the above and more
Mathew SutcliffeA complete joke of a company. The Virgin brand is soiled in my mind. The service is so intermittent that I can only guess at whether I'll succeed in signing this petition tonight. But signing it seems like the best way to try and get some semblance of proper service, given what their tech support is like.
John GoddardI Can only echo your sincere sentiments then add some more actually more than an individual has to accept for £25 per month.. to receive a decent enough service On reflection Blueonder were sort of good. VIRGIN MEDIA ARE ABYSMAL AS A COMPANY I am so incensed by their lack of attention to the problems connection and billing problems month in month out ,besides complaining to OFTEL I Am seriously considering taking Virgin Media to county court for misreprentation of services. Looking at getting the WHOLE Of my money back from A-Z The line i have ha always had intermittent problems VIRGIN MEDIA SERVICES Have become Peurile, unacceptable and downright criminal. I Aim to show this in court with collected evidence and would implore individuals who have similar experiences to consider the county court option.
VincentAbsolute poor speeds. Great at the start but has come to a crawl and too many ping spikes in games. Have emailed several times and all their solutions do not work. Will be getting rid of the service once 12 months have past which is very soon.
wolfkingwhy do virgin media do this they say its UNLIMITED and then they slam a spee reduction on us I think its unfair we are paying for 2Mb,4Mb(10Mb) 20Mb and they cut it in half or worse they shouldnt do this this i think its a discusting how they can get away with this.
Irene KnightWe haven't had a bill for months, lots of final demands. 1 dept has us listed as paper bills another dept has us listed for e-billing. We get cut off every month due to their inability to tell us what we owe. In the last 12 months we have been without all services for approx 240hrs.
AnonymousLost my phone service five days ago due to a fault with the fibre octave cables everyone in my post code is affected by this fault Virgin wont even give me a clue as to when this fault will be fixed so I have no land line and even worse a neiber told me this happened two years ago and it took six months to fix I didnt beleive him but virgin say this isnt out of the question I am shocked beyond beleith. so now the only way I can have a land line thats works is by swithing to BT and paying a £50 installation fee I asked virgin to cover the costs if I swithched you can guess what they said. they offered me £4.00 of the line rentel as I cant prove call costs that have accured from phone boxes ect you would think having no phone service would be proof enough I dont care how much more BT charge IM swithing.
Neil ArmstrongVIRGIN ARE SHIT. -Not been receiving all my emails fro the last 4 months. They don't give a flying **** -Called Tech Support...they never call back in 30 mins -No-one takes ownership of the problem -Complaints dept responded to my letter after two weeks asking me to wait another two weeks before they got back to me because they were so busy......yeah because everyones complaining, because they're CRAP! -Get this they still want to charge me full price for my braodband, even though I refuse to pay and have done for 4 months!! -They are rude, obstructive and they really do NOT care at all. -Let's bring them down.....tell everyone you know not to anywhere near them.
NikSince NTL became Virgin media I am lost for words at how useless it has become, speeds are slower than ever, customer service is none existant, and countless promisses have been broken.
AnonymousI don't see why I should pay £112 to cancel my broadband contract when it would cost me £46.50 to see out the contract. Ridiculous... I hate Virgin Media... screwing the commoner AGAIN!
Luke Joneswell to add to this wounderfull saga i had the joy of discovering that for no apparent reason and with no contact from myself i was suddonly reciving a 512kb connection along with my 1 meg. this somewhat suprised me when i checked my bill details to find out why it was different to what i expected especially as i had not request any extra service, not recived any extra hardware to access this service and the 512k connection hasn't been avalible to purchase from them for sometime. this resulted in a continues state off error in my bills for the following 9 months with me haveing to contact the vm helldesk to get each new bill corrected before paying them
AnonymousI joined Virgin in 98' on dial up and for all of the technical advancements I'm appalled at how they seem to have stagnated in terms of advancement. I live in Oxford a city with plenty of cash and major health and education sectors to boast. (I suspect they are not subject to the yaaaaaaaaaaaaaawnsome restrictions of the general populace). If restrictions are needed when the lions share of people are at home 5pm thru midnight they should be ashamed of themselves. I think it's about time there was a updated chart of the best value non "shaping" ISP's online for all of us "valued" virgin customers to demonstrate our value of the virgin "service".
louise webstervirgin have no right to charge me a cancellation fee of 230 pounds! I have moved house through no choice of my own and they can not supply me with the same service I used to get due to moving to a non cable area. I have been on the phone 3 times to them, call time totalling 2 hours 45 mins! Through no choice of mine They are idiots!
Michael MoranI am on the VIP 20meg bb product can only get 5 meg max during the day and 1.5 meg at night have been advised over utilisation of the UBR currenlty with edge planning no eta for fix
louisvirgin media is absolute shit. throttling a 20mb service i pay for down to 3 mb is surley against the law. if i get a reduction in service then the fee should be reducted too. CRAP!!!
AnonymousService is disgracefully slow. Customer service is even worse put my bill up without asking me never bother to send out direct debit forms to fill in. Then charge extra £5 for not paying via direct debit useless company.
nathan charlesworthone word CRAP come back telewest
AnonymousI was a telewest/blueyonder customer for donkeys years. Since virgin took over they have completely destroyed a great service. I have just cancelled my telephones and TV and will be cancelling my broadband internet with the next few days.
Rik BaileyFor first 4 days had crossed phone line so could not use house phone 100% of the time recieving 350-550K internet. Support is a joke as half the time I had to suggest the tracerts and ping tests to proceed in finding the casue of the problem. Was told that I did have a rubbish connection and no compensation of solution offered. When tried to end contract due to them not giving me the service signed up for wanted to charge me for it. Waited till contract ran out, phoned them up and cancelled the whole service. Two months latter get a phone call saying that I owe them £100 for unpaid charges over the last two months and they have no records of me cancelling service apparantly.
Anonymousinternet always going down, virgin media doesnt seem to like rain?!
fahedi have just noticed traffic management for all virgin media broadband it seems we may be purchasing 10mb download but for the majority of the day we get 2mb so every 1 has internet RICHARD BRANSON u r a idiot the broadband is not running out or is it a car stop conning ur customers and treat them better i am moving back to sky as soon as possiable they are alot better and i get what i pay for
Matthew MangerVirgin Media ought to be shut down and Richard Branson ought to be Arrested! This is Daylight robbery!
EmmaRubbish service, mostly useless call cantre staff. NEVER AGAIN!
Chris FinchVirgin media have stolen money from me......overcharged me and lied to me for 5 months !
Eric DucreuxAbismal customer services... never seen something like that NB: it is 13:10 on 11/09/2009, broadband has been down since 14:43 09/09/2009... almost 48H... and no timscale/explanation...
james phimistertraffic capping . they make there money out of p2p file sharing then SHAPE the traffic at busy times . they cut of my connection then blamed my pc . it took a week to get to speak to someone with greater i.t knowledge than myself . she then still tried to go through the rubbish switch it on reset your ip . i exploded at her .
AnonymousI am writing to say I am deeply dissappointed with virgin media .I was supposed to have 50mb broadband installed in the property on the 26 of October 26 2009 that did not materialise. After mess ups by your middlesbrough store staff and your door to door sales people. I managed to call your reinstallteam in india spoke to a Santosh (supervisor)who assured me that will install on the 04/11/2009 .Apparantley a technician came out and said he found an under 18 person at the property and so could not install .(which is not possible as this is a university house for mature students.) I even have a letter from your store staff in middlesbrough(WHICH I WILL BE USING TO CAMPAIGN AGAINST YOUR COMPANY) reassuring me that the installation was going to go ahead on the 04/11/09( AFTER A MONTHS WAIT FROM 11/10/09). I spent hours on the phone trying to get the technician back to the property .I had waited over a month to get this service since 11/10/09 to November only to be told that there is nothing that can be done. THE SERVICE WITH VIRGIN WAS/IS SO BAD I THOUGHT IT WAS RACISM. BUT I ASSURE YOU THE SERVICE WITH VIRGIN WAS/IS SO BAD I LOOKED PAST RACISM.Its JUST BAD SERVICE. HOW CAN YOUR COMPANY TREAT PEOPLE LIKE THIS I had to cancel the install request no one in your organisation even offered me an alternative.when i called and explained my problem to your customer service team I was put straight through to cancelletions. I still do not have broadband in my room and I desperatley need it for my university work . You may contact me at any time to reddress this situation.
