AnonymousI have phone, broadband and TV through Virgin media. I've had problems with all three 'services', phoning customer service is a waste of time, you get through to a call centre in India where every time you have to go through the issues in full, after which the problems just continue. If they do manage to fix a problem another one turns up the next month
AnonymousWhen I was with Telewest everything was fine. Now we're with Virgin media, our phone sometimes has an engaged tone, they delete some of the programmes we have stored on V+, and I get disconnected from the internet every couple of hours, before getting to spend a lovely 15 minutes trying to reconnect it, followed by getting disconnected again as soon as I go on it. And god forbid if you want to watch something on Youtube!
carolyn farebrotherBroadband that should be up to 2MB is only 56KB slower than dial up and has been for at least 6 months no amount of moaning at them helps nor is any refund offered even when asked for.
Neil SpeareyI have had a really shocking experience with Virgin Media, my advice would be DON'T HAVE ANTYHING TO DO WITH THEM EVER. I decided not to proceed with my application before it started but of course Virgin were having none of that. I spent 6 hours on a phone trying to cancel but in the end a man calling himself 'stavros' told me that I had been transfered to a Pizza Restraunt. Please can anyone email me if you have had similar experiences. I eventually cancelled but then I got a bill for £164.00 for 'admin costs'. I rushed to the back, ensured my Direct Debit was cancelled and put my account on 'fraud alert'.
NeilContant problems with my mailbox allegedly being the problem, where all other virgin email accounts work just fine but mine does not. Excuses of large emails and blockages. The live chat on line support persons always give different excuses. I am only writing this becasue its down again! FED UP!!
AnonymousVirgin Media is rubbish. The internet is awful. The tv is awful - updates every day? Freezing the television set...crap.
AnonymousHi there, I recognise myself in all this, I am french, sorry for that. Came to the UK a couple of years ago, because of my job location in surrey, and joined Virgin media(why...??? what went through my head that day???), Anyway, I did move from my previous address once and I have been told that I wouldn't be charged, once in my new place, a letter was already there asking me to call them to activate my account. Called them, they told me that I would have to pay a fee to connect my services when in the first place, they were telling me that they would be no adds whatsoever. Start sending me bills from my previous address 5 months after I moved, asking me for 54.20, sent them the proof of payment from my bank statement 5 months ago and nothing since, I stopped paying and my services are still running. I am expecting them to come to me somedays soon with an enormous bills to pay, but you know what as we say THEY CAN KEEP DREAMIN'
Mr R. BlooreVirgin Media is the most unhelpfull parasite it has been my missfortune to deal with. And hopefully this service will go the way of the dinosaur.
Hussain YafaiI have been a telewest customer for about 4 years and the old adage "You dont miss a good thing until its gone" its true. Since virgin media have entered they have completely frustrated me with this "New Policy" then why advertise UNLIMITED when it clearly IS NOT ! I have already spoken with a telephone representative a few weeks ago regarding my broadband service. At the time i was ensured that my broadband service would be reduced from 4MB @ 480kbps at offpeak times to 2MB @ 280kbps. Unfortunately i have noticed over the past week that it has reduced to 1MB @110kbps during peak times ! My service is a 4MB connection not a 1MB one as illustrated, this excessive restriction is annoying and i demand an explanation for the abuse of trust and service agreement. You are not entitled to restrict my service twice to a 1/4 of its original capacity. I demand my enquries to be addressed and resolved within 5 working days by a customer services manager. Furthermore i wish to speak to the female customer service person who assured me of the service and carried out my 4MB upgrade registration. I am seriously considering cancelling my service as its giving me stress which i dont need unless you're a sadist.
AnonymousI don't wish to make a comment, All I would like it for VM to treat it's customers fairly and with respect.
Bod2mb broadband feels like dial-up
Anonymousif telewest didnt cap ypur downloads why do virgin
Adam McKeownafter being with blueyonder for 5 years as soon as the switch to virgin happened, 25p (useless) tech lines? broadband speed caps? its simply not good enough as i don\'t know anyone, ANYONE else who has to deal with speed caps. Virgin, stop treating the nation like a bunch of babies who you think need to be spoon fed trash after they have already been with a top quality service for years.
andrew sherman-batesI quit VM for sky and went through the proceedure of informing VM that I will not be using them any more, they STILL have my £25 deposit (which they remind me of every month) then in october last year I received a letter from debt collectors saying I owe THEM £58 !!!! I will keep you posted!!!!
AnonymousReally slow internet, can Virgin TV go for 24 hours with out crashing? Why give SKY Virgin channels, when we can't get SKY one??
AnonymousOn 20M/B connection with them and on some days get less than 2/M/B. Engineer called today and did a test. Downloaded a file on average of 300KBS and then multiplied this by 8 with his calculator and told me I was getting 18 M/B connection. I wonder if they use these calculators to work out their hourly pay. Tomorrow they get the boot, especially as I've contacted them on numerous occasions and they just talk hot air. So it's goodbye Virgin media and good riddance.
Chris RohdichI can browse ok, But gaming has become a no no over the last 6 months, NTL was good for games but when Virgin take over it turns to shit.
Justin SteerI have beedn with either NTL or Blueyonder (mostly BY) for years since the days of surf unlimited on dialup and as soon as BB came to my area. Until Virgin came along and fluffed it all up, I always had amazing connection with BY and a steady reasonable one with NTL, now though in EX BY and NTL areas its the same story, connection goes 250kb/s MAX on a 4MB connection during the day and thats rarely, and come 6 o'clock its down to a max of 40kb/s until 6 am sometimes. Its really pissing me off. Why am I paying them for 4mb and not getting it, Never would have had these problems if Virgin didnt get involved.
SamI am haveing nothing but nightmare with Virgin Media. They have been overcharging me for 13 months.
jf de beervery slow at night nothing from 22h00 branson is a megolomaniac narcissist
GlennInternet connection often unavailable. Email mailbox of 30M is tiny. Virgin is more expensive than most broadnband ISPs and they charge YOU to tel lthem THEIR network is down ... unbelievable. but my biggest gripe is my phone line which has failed completely for the 8th time in 2 years ! and a technician will call in 5 days time !!
gordontraffic management policies only apply during peak times (4pm till 9pm) what bull i got capped a second time for down loading 6gig between 12am and 3pm whats going on
stephen scoularconstantly slow connection, e-mail was down for at least 10 days in Dec 2007, down for 2 days in jan 2008, problems sending e-mails, time outs etc, any time you ring the free phone technical support number you always get the message there is ongoing maintenance, how long does this maintenance need before they decide to fix it.
AnonymousI got my Virgin Broadband a year ago and a few months down the line, my Internet stopped working. An engineer turned up 4 days later after I spoke to someone in India but at that point, my Internet worked 3 days later. The engineer found no problems. This happened on and off about 3 or 4 times. Last Monday, it went down and the engineer was supposed to have turned up the next day. The engineer didn't even turn up and I had to stay in all day, but luckily it was working again. Today it stopped working again but luckily it started working 3 hours later just before I had to add credit to my mobile to call Virgin. On Monday they said I would get £6 refund. It costs £1.50 a minute on mobiles and they had to ring me back as my credit was running out. It's obvious there are problems their end but there is nothing showing on the Virgin web page about problems in your own area. Or not today anyway when the Internet went down. They have put their prices up from £10 to £18 a month now after a year yet TalkTalk and Tiscali are cheaper even with broadband and phone. I have heard that any provider is so much better than Virgin so if I have another problem I will change to somewhere else and tell everyone to do that too.
Vitaly KisinNow they want to make me pay for 25 p/min calls to find our what upload rate I pay for! I'll leave virgin very soon
Sam Crowleyabsolutly terrible service cant play online games youtube doesnt work nothign works google wont load
Turbo DonkeyVirgin Media have utterly ruined the reputation that blueyonder took years to build, I have cancelled TV and Telephone services, and I think £37/month for a barely faster then 56k dial up is absolutely daylight robbery... Way to go mr Branson, you ROCK... NOT
Richard GledsonSick of paying excessive cost for mediocre service
John StephensonAs an IT professional, I had recommended Blueyonder for Broadband as I felt their customer service was excellent. However since beardy took over I feel as though i've cheated my customers. I wish there was someway I could talk to someone about these issues (in English) and I wish my phone could be fixed in the next 7 days
DanielI am paying for 4 meg and only getting less the 1 meg for the past 2 months.
AnonymousAppalling TV service matched by equally unreliable broadband. Have given up calling tech support. Reasoned letter sent to COO received pathetic standard response.
AnonymousJust found out that I have been paying £13.50 per month for the last 30 months...... for a tv package I never asked for and has never appeared on my TV! Apparantly its my fault and I'm not entitled to a refund? "Theft" I think is the term for it?!
Anonymousi have same problem having no internet connection or having to refresh pages alot . was told needed new modem which they replaced but still have problem . refuse to ring help line at 25p a min as it is there problem not mine. the help line should be free. i am going to change providers
Richard Cartwright2 years great service with telewest, great customer support, superb tech support - now down the drain since VIRGIN took over - charges for tech support - broadband connection keeps cutting off after midnight, capping during busy hours, the list goes on. I detest them. I am looking elswhere.
Anonymousappaling service I have retained my previous telephone/broadband provider at the end of my 12 month contract I will not be renewing. I have burned my bridge with skys over priced service after VM I shall go walking istead of watching tv.lol
AnonymousVery slow internet access ever since moving from 4MB (which was great, 4+ downloads all the time) to 10 then to 20. Get less than the 4mb all weekends and evenings. Is OK sometimes during the week.
Peter Fits a disgrace, i pay my hard earned cash for my 4mb connection, soon to be upgraded "for free" to 10mb, that'll be the day, by "free" i assume they mean, that they'll pull some issue out of their ass where i have to pay for it, or get 2mb when i should be getting 10mb currently 4mb, so... why is my download speed 95kbps............. absolute disgrace.
Glenn RogersI can actually connect to the internet faster and more reliably (albeit at a greater cost) using my mobile phone than i can on this useless service. Even a dial up connection returns greater speeds, not impressed at all and i'm off to find a more reliable provider!!
AnonymousVery slow between 18:30 and 21:30. Too slow for XBox Live. When downloading large files transfer speed often drops from between 700k and 200k to between 9k and 4k. Dial up was faster. This slow speed then remains for hours.
Anonymousi agree that virgin media needs a slap round the face. so far they are probably the worts ISP for upload speed. i have no problem with download speed apart from the rubbish caps that are being forced on to paying customers.
Tom McCrowVirgin Media claiming that their broadband is unlimited is terrible use of wordplay to disguise the fact that they do indeed throttle bandwidth. In a world where people are increasingly using the internet for purchasing and viewing or listening to music, films and are downloading ever larger files, throttling bandwidth when this occurs is a ridiculous step back! If it wasn't such hassle I'd move to Be Broadband, which is cheaper and offers far higher upstream, and even at a distance from the exchange I still think I'd get closer to the 24mbps that they offer than I get to the 20mbps that Virgin offer. Telewest used to be great, Branson has ruined it through his companies undeniable incompetence.
Simon WealdExtremely poor service, I was throttled to BELOW dial-up speeds for an entire week, yet they maintained there was absolutely NO throttling/problems on my line. Once my contract is up I will most DEFINITELY be changing providers.
Dave Holtconsidering how much they lie, cheat and steal, you'd think they'd then be able to afford to provide an actual service.
JamieService isn't up to scratch.
joe smithNA
James CrawfordTwo many calls made to document to keep my 20meg connection that is now slow and capped. I thought NTL were bad but they could provide internet speed with TV service 24\7 without capping why not Virgin? I used to pay £25 for 20meg Now same for half the speed when it arrives in may 2008 but the most frustrating thing is no action taken on calls you make or no record of earlier deals you made and billing is a joke.
Julia Margaret SherrattJust another frustrated and extremely angry customer hoping that someday somehow Virgin will pay dearly for all this...and soon.
duncan bladennever the same since telewest sold them
KateI have had one problem after another with Virgin internet services, I am paying for a service that I am definitely not receiving!!
AnonymousI have been recieving reminder (threat) letters from VM for not paying monthly bills, without actually receiving a monthly bill, or recieving the bill after the reminder letter. Having phoned them a number of times, VM staff tell me that the bills were definitely sent and it must be my postal service. If so why does all the other mail arrive including the reminder letters from VM. They have added late penalty charges to the account each time the reminder is sent to me and after a number of lengthy phone calls to VM (Each time settling outstanding balances and being assured payment was up to date) I managed to get the "fines" refunded, but i feel certain that i've been ripped off by paying too much to them over the past few months. In addition, Because I don't pay by direct debit I am fined £5 per month by them. These people are like cowboys. The customer service sucks and after holding in a Phone Q for ages I've been cut off a number of times over the past year. Isnt there some kind of watchdog that can kick their butts?
