161 James WoodenHouston TX77027I want Barnes and Noble to change the Book Stop sign to Barnes and Noble as soon as possible. They should carry their own logo. This store is Barnes and Noble now. Not the Book stop any more. After all once you enter the store everything is Barnes and Noble. All the price tags etc. They even ask if you have a Barnes and Noble discount card as you check out. Lets get this over with and change the sign to Barnes and Noble. . . NOW ! ! ! They do it all the time when banks are buying other banks and so on and on with the rest of all corporate buy-outs.

179 Brenda WooldridgeHouston, Texas77017The typical B&N bookstores are so cold and commercial, they inspire no loyalty whatsoever. Alabama is warm and inviting, and it's a part of our city's history. I worked in this theatre when it was showing Rocky Horror and Empire Strikes Back. When I returned to Houston 10 years ago, I was delighted to see that it had been preserved. It is my first choice of bookstores and I typically spend over $100 per month there. If Barnes and Noble allows this bookstore to be torn down, it can kiss my business good-bye. They offer nothing the other bookstores don't, and they will have destroyed a Houston Landmark.

184 AnonymousHouston, Tx77008I love this bookstore and i enjoy being able to go to this historic place and relax. I come here quite often to buy books and read and i love the fact that it is so old.
185 Stan GilmoreHouston, TX77339Why not have Weingartens develope the entire Alamaba center for Barnes & Noble. Tear down the existing strip center around the theatre and build a "mega" Barnes & Noble on the site, incorporating the Alabama Theatre into the final designe. Make the location a 21st Century 'Art Deco' complex. The theatre auditorium could then be put back as it was for a multi use area for lectures, book signings, quiet reading zone, and restaurant area. Plenty of parking along the back of the center would work better than at River Oakes Center. I can invision a major Barnes & Noble Complex. It's possibe. It could work. and it would help save the history of the Alabama Theater. Just look at some of the restorations being done in Europe that always incoroprate an exising building. They don't tear it down, they save it and build around it.
186 Lorretta RuggieroHouston, Texas77032I am absolutely disgusted by the apathy exhibited by Weingarten and Barnes and Nobles concerning our city's history. Of course their job is to make money, but the destruction of historic landmarks is a disgrace, not to mention the damage to the environment caused by such massive amounts of waste. I love the ambience of the West Gray shopping area and I think a parking garage is not going to be a great asset to that area. They best not put their grimy hands on the River Oaks Theatre. I also hope the West Gray Kroger stays the way it is.

197 MerlinHouston, TX77006I loath the sameness of suburbia, in any city, because of the cookie-cutter houses and megastore chains. Occasionally I stop in a large Barnes and Nobles or Borders bookstore and at the check out counter have to ask "what store am I in?" because they are all the same. But when you are in the Alabama Bookstop, you KNOW where you are! I live in Houston's inner city because of its character! The Alabama Bookstop is a Houston icon! Leave it - event the name!
198 Holly GraceyHouston77033Please give history in Houston a chance. New is not always better. Do not make the mistake of destroying the past for money and greed.

200 DarylHouston,Texas77093I have been going to the bookstop for 9 years and love every aspect of that store. In fact it is the ONLY book store I go to. Please don't abandon the old Alabama theater. If you do you will be losing lots of customers and I will be one of them. I have on occasion ordered books online, but not from B&N, I absolutely hate the site,YES I hate your website layout! I much rather buy from amazon, especially if you guys close the bookstop.
