Howard ParkHouston, TX77096You have a fabulous location in the curent Alabama Theater. It's a destination for many... think long term, think goodwill, think physical location that's special to compete with the virtual amazons... think fans and their children
anthony pfeifferhouston, tx77006my wife and i enjoy walking to the bookstop to browse, buy and have a good cup of coffee. this store has more character and life than the borders books nearby. i plan on putting my money where my mouth is by not patronizing your store if this location is destroyed....please find some middle ground.
Leonard GilroyHouston, TX77027The Bookstop is my favorite bookstore, and I actually will forego online (cheaper) book purchases for the experience of shopping there. I'd rather pay a little more for the ambiance of the store. My daughter has also grown up with that as her bookstore reference point, which makes the standard suburban-style big bookstore pale by comparison. I'm usually not a NIMBY or preservationist, but the Bookstop is a gem worthy of protecting.

C GeorgeHouston, TX77005When I'm shopping for books, I go to Bookstop, not Borders, because the atmosphere's different and inviting. If it becomes just another big box, I'll be taking a lot more of my business on-line to Amazon, where the selection's far better than anything in any physical bookstore.

Jenny BaileyHouston, Texas77055I am a frequent customer of B&N with a membership card, but I will use other stores for my book, magazine, CD and gift item purchases if the Alabama is not preserved. Thank you.
Robin HolzerHouston, TX77006I have chosen to shop at Bookstop for 17 years -- since 1989 -- despite the close proximity of competing mega book vendors or the availability of Amazon. I continue to buy my books at Bookstop because I REALLY ENJOY browsing for books in the historic Alabama Theater location. As central Houston becomes increasingly urban, the draw of this unique shopping destination only grows. Please preserve it!

Pat KelterHouston, Texas77009It is time for businesses such as Barnes & Noble, as well as Weingarten's to start taking into consideration the people, the community that supports them. I grew up with the Alabama Theater as well as the River Oaks theater and I want to see them preserved!!!!!!!

Philip GerdingGalveston TX77550This was the first bookstore I found in Houston. I still go there just to enjoy the surroundings. Please, don't we have enough big box stores with no souls??

Martha WilliamsHouston Texas77006-1202I think it's outrageous that you would allow destruction of the Alabama Theater for another big box. I will never shop there if that is what you do, and I will avoid all your other outlets as well.

Scott SingletonHouston, TX77003Don't plow the Alabama Theater/Bookstop/B&N. Just don't do it. Do the right thing, find another way. Weingarten will listen to you, it's within your power, just as it's within mine to go to Amazon...

Iona McAvoyHouston, TX77009I loved that BN saved this theatre and the facility- and go there at least once a week, sometimes more. We have so little to treasure as history and this is a treasure worth saving!

Kenneth FairHouston, TX77096I have been a long-time customer of the historic Alabama Theater Bookstop on Shepherd Drive in Houston, Texas, as well as other Barnes & Noble locations. I consider the Bookstop there, as well as the other art-deco buildings in the area owned by Weingarten Realty, to be treasures of the Houston community. They are a rare example of historic preservation in a city with so few other examples. My message is quite simple. If B&N abets the destruction of these buildings in any way, I will never again shop at a B&N store. If B&N cannot support the Houston community, I see no reason to support B&N.

Anna EastmanHOUSTON, TX 7700877008I am more than willing to drive the extra distance to Borders, when the larger chain experience is necessary. Your presence in the community is unwanted if it requires abandoning and destroying local landmarks. What I love about both the Alabama theatre and River Oaks centers is that they are accessible and retain what is an important part of my choice to stay in the inner part of Houston.
AnonymousHouston, TX77009This is an important part of what remains of Houston's 20th century architectural history.

Bonnie SheerenHouston, Texas77007I love the Alabama Bookstop! It has so many great memories for me and my family! I would much rather shop there than any of the cookie-cutter places around town! Please consider saving it!
