The decline in soap opera ratings has been noted by the networks and the media for years. In large part, it is due to the lack of real romances between the characters that exist in a world more closely representing the times in which we live.
"All My Children's" Bianca Montgomery and Maggie Stone...as a couple...is the next step in the rich history of soap operas breaking down barriers. As played by Eden Riegel and Elizabeth Hendrickson, these two young female characters are among those who have the best chemistry on daytime.
For ABC to hide what is obviously a brilliant bolt of lightening in a bottle is a mistake. Part of the magic...beyond the actresses' instant chemistry...has been the slow buildup the team at "All My Children" has crafted so well for this storyline. It has got all that it takes for a believable romance to come to life on the daytime screen.
Bianca and Maggie's romance is the perfect storyline to bring front and center...where it belongs...to coincide with Valentine's Day for February sweeps 2003.
Bringing this couple front and center will allow for the entire medium to be brought into a new day. Bringing this couple front and center will showcase not only these two great talents but allow for a strong storyline that would affect every character in Pine Valley. Bringing this couple front and center...especially during February sweeps...will create a ratings increase the likes of which daytime television has not seen in years.
