The petition

Kia ora! We need your support in opposing the Rotorua District Councilâ??s plans to further extract water from Taniwha Springs which has and will continue to affect the water level, water currents, nature, wildlife and pollution within the surrounding stream catchments including Awahou river which is historically and currently a source of wildlife, food, tradition and recreation for local peoples and visitors. Reports recommend a cautionary approach of an increase in water taking yet an application of consent by RDC is still being sought through mediation. The affects of previous water abstraction is sadly obvious to local peoples, we ask that you please help us to preserve and safeguard our natural resources.
