I believe that it is a particular NT type (yes, we NT’s are different from each other as well) and perhaps one that is searching for the perfect blend of consummate love (intimacy, passion and commitment – see Triangular Theory of Love). I now know that, because I am in love with my AS man that I may never find the intimacy and commitment that I have searched for so long to find. So, I am grieving so painfully, for what I can never personally achieve for myself, with my AS man. However, the grief brings relief because my past pain and great emotional and physical suffering now makes sense. Perhaps ASPIA members also have no commitment and intimacy from their AS man. For me, right now, attending an ASPIA group would be like giving up on us - I would be horrified if I ever attend ASPIA meetings and there is ‘venting’ as you say. I sign your petition because I am in love with my AS man and I am supportive of his current AS journey (belief/denial - on again/off again) , but I am also a CADD sufferer reacting to his refusal to allow me personal intimacy and commitment.... 12 years now. |

Nathanael Caldwell Nerode | Having any associations with unscientific hate groups -- and be clear, these groups are peddling disproven nonsense based on what can only be called a combination of personal vendettas and self-promotion -- is extremely unprofessional.

Elise Butowsky | I am very disappointed in Dr. Atwood. His thinking propelled autism research into the modern world. However, with his association with the Cassandra doctrine he instead sends autism research back into the dark ages of disenfranchisement and discrimination against those with any form of ASD. Shame on him and shame on any so-called professional peddl.ing this garbage
jamie graen | i have aspergers and people should use facts to make decisions and this stuff is the autism version of making reasons to discriminate against black people in 1950

Karen Nielsen | My father, brother, and son are autistic. I wish my son to have the same opportunity to marry and raise children, that my father and brother have had. I dispute the idea that my mother has been damaged by her 45-year marriage to an autistic man, or that my neice or myself have been damaged by having autistic parents.
