Support Atlanta Firefighters

A City Wide petition to Atlanta City Council

Petition
To Atlanta City Council

We the undersigned, strongly urge the Atlanta City Council to override the Mayor’s veto of the Atlanta Firefighters pay raise. We ask the City Council to understand that the Citizens of Atlanta value and respect our Firefighters and believe they should be paid a salary that contributes to sustaining a livable wage. We are concerned that retaining well-trained and dedicated professionals is critical to the safety of each and every citizen, visitor and business. Danger is inherent to a firefighters job and the professional members of our Fire Department deserve just compensation and respect from our city government.

The raise is small, 1.8 million dollars and represents less than half of one percent of the city’s budget. Council has already found financing of this raise without measurable impact on city services; this combined with the fact that the city has a surplus provides just rationale to support the raise. It is imperative that we value the men and women who place themselves in danger for the citizens of Atlanta. Please support the pay raise already approved by City Council and over ride the Mayor’s veto. Public safety is the primary objective of any city government, do not place our safety at risk; vote yes for the Firefighters Pay Raise.

If you support our efforts to encourage the Atlanta City Council to override the Mayor’s veto, please sign the petition below and email to as many friends and associates that you can.
