PÉTITION CONTRE LES SUBVENTIONS PUBLIQUES POUR LES ALOUETTES DE MONTRÉAL
Nous, soussignés, nous opposons à toute subvention qui pourrait provenir de nos gouvernements (municipal, provincial ou fédéral) aux Alouettes de Montréal pour l'agrandissement du Stade Percival-Molson de l'Université Mc Gill.
L’actuel projet d’agrandissement est un projet de 27 millions dont 23 millions ont été sollicités en argent public. Il nous semble qu’un projet privé doit être principalement financé à partir de fonds privés. L’équipe de football privée qui appartient à l’américain Bob Wetenhall accumule les déficits depuis quelques années et nous ne pensons pas que notre argent doive servir à renflouer une telle entreprise.
Si nos gouvernements et nos milieux d’affaires veulent être cohérents avec leurs discours de « moins d’état », ils doivent demander que ce projet du secteur du divertissement soit financé en majeure partie par des investissements privés.
PETITION AGAINST PUBLIC FUNDING FOR THE MONTREAL ALOUETTES
We, the undersigned, are opposed to any public monies (municipal, provincial or federal) that could be awarded to the Montreal Alouettes for the expansion of McGill University’s Percival-Molson Stadium.
The expansion project in question will cost $27 million of which $23 million is expected to come from public sources. We believe that a private project should be financed in major part by private interests. This privately owned football club that belongs to Bob Wetenhall from the U.S., has accumulated deficits over the past several years and we further believe that our money should in no way serve to support such a business.
If our governments and business community wish to remain coherent with their current thinking on reducing state intervention, they should ask that this project from the entertainment sector be financed in large part through private investors.
