The petition

Dear Coaches, Parents, Players and Friends of Georgia High School Tennis,

Although initiatives and rules changes must be conducted only by GHSA officials, we would like you to consider and share your views with regard to recommending a change to a 9 point scoring system for Georgia high school tennis. This change has been long in coming. Georgia is one of the greatest tennis states, yet we have talented kids sitting the bench, or worse, getting cut from the team.

The USTA supports a no-cut policy. The USTA Georgia web site states "Such a policy ensures not only that all interested students are given a
chance to develop as better tennis players, but more importantly, to become well rounded student athletes."

This is an admirable idea, but an unrealistic goal when you consider only 7 players may be included each match under the current format. We need to join Alabama and the many other states that have 12 players on the courts each match.

We would be interested in your views! Please forward this online petition web site to all coaches, parents, players and interested Georgians who love tennis. Our High School players are the future of Georgia Tennis. The more signatures we have to bring to the ADs, the better chance we have for success. Every signature matters, every player matters. Let's clear the bench and keep our high school players in the game.

Again, we do not have the authority to make this happen, but we can
come together as a group and express our concerns and interests to the
GHSA. Please take a moment to share your ideas with us.
