9FM- We Play Anything! Why is 9FM inevitably what the radio waves needed? It's as simple as having and using an mp3 player On the air as 9FM, you gave the people what they wanted in a radio station. We the audience wanted fewer interruptions, more variety in the music, and family-friendly programming. For the first time in Chicago radio history, 9FM had used the opportunity to hook in their listeners in the Listening areas where they make the most impact; 92.5 in the West, 92.7 in the North and 99.9 in the South! Now all that is left is one station on 92.7 WKIF-FM which doesn’t even give decent rim-shot coverage into Chicago and Chicago-land area, thus leaving 9FM at a disadvantage for making a dent in the Arbitron’s, and recapturing its loyal fans and listeners in the most impacted regions of Chicago-land. We The people spoke and you listened! o Only 6 minutes of commercials per hour (W/ 1-2 minute commercial break intervals) o No Repeat Workdays or excessive repeating of music unlike most other stations on the dial! o An eclectic mix of well-known songs from virtually all genres and generations (True Variety)! o A family-friendly environment, where parents can listen comfortably with their kids whom enjoy listening 9FM o Dance Factory FM during late-night hours (9PM-5AM) locking us fans from the previous Energy 927&5 format 9FM Listeners are wanting: o Want less talk on FM radio dial * talk radio-*Many of which fail or move to HD sub-channels due to lack of interest, low ratings, lack of channel space ex. 94.7 WLS-FM in the 1990s, 105.9 WCKG-FM more recently in (2007) o See a Return of the interesting stations of 9FM because they really did played anything, so please bring 9FM Back please! Sincerely, all loyal 9FM Listeners in the 92.5, 92.7, 99.9 Listening Audience Harvey Wells RESPONSE: Vice President and Group Station Manager Of Newsweb Radio Company At this time, 9FM is only going to be on 92.7-FM in the far south suburbs. If there are other people who would like the station back, it would be good to hear from them, as we have not up to now.
