I believe that churches in the United States should be more transparent in how they spend money that is given to them in the furtherence of the gospel. Current tax laws require all non-profit organizations - EXCEPT CHURCHES - to complete a financial disclosure statement called the "Form 990". Sadly, the reality in today's church culture is that many larger churches are run like profit-making enterprises, using marketing techniques to improve market share, soliciting members for money using high-pressure and guilt-laden techniques, and they pay their senior pastors excessive comepnsation packages enabling them to gain great wealth for them and their families.
