Name: Jim Rudroff on Jan 24, 2007Comments: The 96 lb weight class is important to the sport to further the interest of young wrestlers. If you eliminate it I am concerned that those wrestlers will move to other sports since there would not be a place for them in wrestling.Flag

Name: Rob Broda on Jan 24, 2007Comments: There is a big enough field in the 96 lb class, you should not penalize someone because they are small. My son did not make weight until he was a freshman. If you take the class away, kids could lose a year, and get away from the sport. If you reward the big guys be giving them an extra 10 lbs you can not hurt the 96lb class because they are not big. This is wrestling, sometimes the best change is no change!!!!!!!!!!Flag

Name: Jason Berry on Jan 24, 2007Comments: My son is in 7th grade and walked through every modified match he had this year. It was barely challenging for him so we have been planning to move him up to JV or Varsity next year at 96 lbs. Please keep this weight class so the smaller kids have the same chance to participate.Flag

Name: Clifford Gibbs on Jan 24, 2007Comments: Get rid of the 96lbs weight class. Most of the 96lbs wrestlers are 7th-8th grade students. That why they have junior high. Also growing freshmen and sophmores around the 112lbs weight class will not try and suck down. GET RID OF THIS WEIGHT CLASS>>>>>>>>>>Flag

Name: Steve Barker on Jan 24, 2007Comments: Please think of the kids when making your decision. We need the 96lb class. What grade the athlete is in should have no bearing on your decision. I have been a devoted parent, coach for over 13 years. alot of these kids have 6 or 7 years experience and are well prepared for varsity as well as the 9th and 10th graders at this weight. Please save the 96 lb class they are exceptional athletes.Flag

Name: Robert Swartout on Jan 24, 2007Comments: If the only reason we are looking at eliminating the 96lb weight class just so that we are like every other state, I am against the move. We don't wrestle other states, we wrestle a few other sections. What is the advantage of limiting another year of experience for wrestlers in New York. Today's 96lb is 130 to 152 by their senior year.Flag

Name: Cory Tabolt on Jan 24, 2007Comments: I would hate to see the 96lbs weight class be dropped. If this happens it would be an atrocity to say the least. wrestling is already a dying sport in the sense of participants in high school, if we want the ancient sport to continue and grow, we cannot go eliminating weight classes and shrinking the scope of who can participate and who cannot. The 275lbs weight class has already beein increased to 285 to encourage heavier people to join, why would you go and cut the othe end of the spectrum.....oh yeah and im all for allowing 96 and 275 to participate in dual meets. :-)Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jan 24, 2007Comments: there have been many 9th and 10th graders wrestling at 96 as well as some jrs and srs. discriminating against them will leave these talented kids with nothing else to do in the winter. do you think basketball is an option there are more kids in youth wrestling moving up that are of smaller stature than kids that will wrestle 275 (or 285) and they (96) are far more athletic and skilled. one only needs to attend a tourny and see the excitement, skill and stamina as opposed to the heavier kids, who hug, hold, and stall in almost every match. maybe these 96 lbers can smoke or drink or do drugs instead with the free time mr bourne wants to allow them.Flag
