   Comments: The center turn lane does not need dedicated turn pockets, but a re-painting of the lines on the road to make one through-lane for cars, trucks, and busses each way, one lane for bikes each way, and one center turn lane is a must. I live in downtown Davis, on the south side of 5th Street. I witness the accidents and near accidents having it as a car and truck only highway every day causes.

   Comments: This proposal is the least expensive and most financially reasonable fix for the the 5th street problem. Davis is not truly a bicycle friendly city when the main street through town does not have bicycle lanes through the downtown region.

    Comments: I lived in Davis for 4 years, and while I've been away for over 2 years, I plan to come back and live in Davis sometime in the near future. There have been talks about re-designing the downtown area 5th street stretch for a long time, and I've always felt like these changes are necessary. I'm wholly supportive of any re-design that allows for the safer travel of cyclists in Davis.

    Comments: I currently commute around Davis by bike, and do have to go across 5th street every day, which often is a very unpleasant experience due to lack of visibility adn car-bike separation. It would have been easier and faster if I could go along the 5th street for a few blocks, but the road is far too dangerous for that. 6th and 7th street are quite unlit, and often not safe for bikers due to the potholes and garden waste on the road.
