The policy being presented is the law to tax plastic water bottles, which is not an existing policy. This policy is will increase each plastic water bottle by 50 cents. Shoppers won’t want to spend the extra money for plastic water bottles, therefore limiting the plastic water bottle usage. The state of Chicago has a tax on plastic water bottles and that tax is $0.05. The advantages of this policy is that we are reducing the amount of plastic water bottles being used therefore less polluting the ocean and landfills. The disadvantages to this policy is the companies that are making bottled water such as “Dasani” and “Menehune” will lose sales, thus jobs will be lost. Concord Massachusetts, Cities in Canada, a village in Sydney Australia, and San Francisco all of which has banned plastic water bottles. Our policy is to ban plastic water bottles, which as is evidently an existing policy. Banning plastic water bottles will just eliminate them throughout Oahu period. Advantages to this policy is that it will eliminate plastic water bottle pollution in Hawaii. The disadvantages are that, if there is a natural disaster and we need water we can not get clean water from our fossettes so we need to keep a large amount of water storage controlled by the state.
