The annual 4th of July Celebration in Salina, Utah has always been host to a great parade, with a very advantageous route. In recent years, some have been of the opinion that said parade route should be changed to minimize traffic problems. However, there are many disadvantages to this new route. The fact that it has been tradition for the parade to pass the old route down State Street is only the first supporting fact. Salina has the benefit of a clean, well maintained and updated road where Main and State are concerned, which make for a perfect route for a parade to take considering there are plenty of places for onlookers to watch and enjoy our annual parade. The old route is cleaner, safer, and simpler than the newer less traditional route; therefore I beg we revert back to our established custom of the parade passing down State and Main Street if for no other reason than tradition.
