   Comments: I hold the Board of Supervisors personally responsible for the school fiasco. Before the consolidation vote, the supervisors repeatedly told citizens that "Alleghany County is in good financial shape; we have money, we have a plan. if you'll just give us a chance, we have a plan." Where is the money and where is the plan? Consolidation was our only hope, yet the words "compromise" and "cooperation" are not a part of the Supervisors' vocabulary. You are power-hungry and selfish and have made up your minds that you will not give an inch and act like a united community. Again, this mess is the fault of the Alleghany Highlands Supervisors; the School Board's request should be funded even if taxes have to be raised. You are hurting every community in which the schools are located. Property values will decrease, and who will even want to buy homes in these areas with our youngest students having to be bused so far? You are kidding yourselves if you think people in the Boiling Spring district won't send their children to the new Edgemont/Jeter Watson--meaning a loss of even more state funds. You supervisors have dismally failed the people of the Alleghany Highlands. All of you who voted against consolidation should hang your heads in shame for misleading the people who placed their trust in you.
