Austin's current model of management at public tennis centers is in jeopardy of being discontinued. Your lessons, clinics, team tennis, matchplay 101 and Junior Programs could be completely eliminated or drastically reduced!

A vocal faction is speaking out against structured tennis programs, placing blame for Austin's inability to provide enough tennis courts for people who want to play. They want to drastically reduce or eliminate courts set aside for tennis programs on and are in favor of the  "open play" public tennis model.

All Austin Tennis Players should have an equal opportunity to learn the game, participate in programs, and receive the highest levels of tennis instruction available without paying thousands of dollars to join a country club. Austin's Community Tennis Model as it stands is an excellent example of growing the sport of tennis and makes tennis accessible to those who dont have the means to join a private club. It provides a balance between programming, open play, league and tournament play.

IF IT IS IMPORTANT TO YOU THAT YOU CONTINUE TO RECEIVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE LESSONS, CLINICS, PARTICIPATE IN TEAM TENNIS OR HAVE YOUR CHILD IN JUNIOR PROGRAMMING....ALL ON PUBLIC COURTS, THEN IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT YOU MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD TODAY!

Our Parks and Recreation Dept. has already limited the number of courts desingated to programming at Pharr Tennis Center. Who knows what the future holds for other facilities. PLEASE CONTINUE TO SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT THIS PETITION. STAY TUNED FOR JANUARY 2012 CITY COUNCIL MEETING INFO...WHERE AUSTINS COMMUNITY TENNIS AS A WHOLE WILL BE DISCUSSED.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT WITH THIS ONGOING ISSUE!
