This petition was organized and carried out by a large group of this country's future business, scientific, academic, and public leaders in support of the indispensable service of Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. We cherish their unique efforts to keep the public discourse on important current issues open and honest in a world of biased news networks and journalistic sensationalism. We understand that sometimes it takes blatant satire to get responsible, influential newscasters as well as the public at large to recognize true absurdity in a modern media world teeming with emotionally provocative reports on both important issues and utter trivialities alike. The value of Jon Stewart's and Stephen Colbert's brilliant execution of this function cannot be overstated, and to this end we offer a show of our solidarity in wishing them many more successful years of keeping the media honest. Every name on this list belongs to a doctoral or master's student-in-training at some of the nation's top universities, all of whom declare themselves avid fans of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. As the leaders of tomorrow, we'd like to offer our unanimous show of moral support to you today and also prove to the world that not every devoted viewer of this special hour of television falls under Bill O'Reilly's "stoned slacker" umbrella! Cheers! Sincerely, The undersigned: (Please include your field of study and current university in the "Comments" box, and spread the word to all of your graduate student friends!!!)
