Major League Basesball decided at the beginning of this season to add a second wild card team. This may have seemed like a good idea however; there are three divisions which require one wild card to play the third division which is not matched up.
To make a decision to add a second wild card turns one game into a sudden death game for a team which may have been firmly in place as the wild card team.
One thing that is basically pure about baseball is that until this year, the prospect of half of the league still being almost eligible for post-season play even if they are a near .500 team would have been unthinkable.
It is time to tell Major League Baseball the fans would like to have a say in there decision and dump the second wild card.
