We need your help to save the iconic Moreton Bay Figs at the Sunnybank Hospital.
The situation is:
There are development plans for a driveway to be placed at the McCullough Street side of Sunnybank Hospital. It means the removal of 100+ year old, Moreton Bay Fig trees.
These trees are a natural icon to Sunnybank and provide aesthetic pleasure & shade for people in the vicinity. These trees provide natural habitats for wildlife and help solve the climate change crisis by exchanging carbon emmissions.
Brisbane suburbs need existing natural resources for biodiversity. Please help the Government and Business organisations realise that cultural heritage and external economic values of our State's urban trees as they will help ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.
The proposed driveway access point could be repositioned to facilitate a wellness area amongst the trees. This will offer patients a less-sterile environment to heal in and allow community members aesthetic pleasure.
