SUBJ: BALDWIN JAMES LAWRENCE, AIS #173845 (case numbers: CC1992- 000375, Robbery 1st Degree; and CC1993-000131 Escape 1ST Degree, to be heard before the Alabama Pardons and Parole Board March 21, 2012). Please sign my petition, I am writing this letter in protest to grant parole to BALDWIN JAMES LAWRENCE, AIS #173845. The parole hearing is scheduled for March 21, 2012. I am the daughter of the victim. As evidenced by the brutality of the attack on my mother, LaFaye Anderson, (Robbery 1st Degree) and his attempted escape when first incarcerated and awaiting trial in the Dale County Jail (Escape 1ST Degree). The brutality of the crime, for which he was sentenced to 25 years, is apparent to all who know the victim. Ms. Anderson and her family are still suffering the effects of James Baldwin’s attack years later. Her life will never be the same. On September 18, 1992, Mr. Baldwin visciously beat Ms. Anderson so severely that every bone in her face was crushed. Her injuries were so severe that, instead of ambulance transport to the nearest hospital, she had to be medivaced by a Military helicopter to Flowers Hospital, Dothan, AL, for emergency surgery. Paramedics had to open her airway to allow her to breathe. Since the attack, the victim has undergone 139 surgical procedures to reconstruct her face. The vision in her left eye is permanently impaired. She is now considered legally blind in her left eye. Ms. Anderson must frequently travel to the University of Alabama Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) clinic in Birmingham to have her reconstructed sinus passages cleared of infection. This will be a life-long requirement. Ms. Anderson will continue to suffer physically, financially, and emotionally for the rest of her life because of this senseless inhumane act. Mr. Baldwin is a danger to society, and, the citizens of Alabama. He has a history of past criminal convictions as evident from his past criminal records. He has two felony convictions in the State of Florida, and would have been declared an arbitrary offender, and, would have received an automatic life sentence with no parole, if he had not pleaded one deal. Thank you for your support, Anderson Family
