The parents of the 2011-2012 5th grade class at Immanuel Lutheran School hereby request a tuition credit for three months. It is the consensus of signatures affixed below that an acceptable quality 5th grade education has been compromised. In November 2011 we were informed that Mrs. Jones would be retiring effective following the Thanksgiving break. Soon after, Administration held a parents' meeting which offered a forum to express parents' concerns and ask questions. At that meeting Administration communicated a strong confidence and vouched for the competency of the music teacher, Mrs. Carey to provide 5th grade instruction for the remainder of the academic year. We were assured that the prepared lesson plans would be executed and that the substitute would have regular consultation with Mrs. Jones in efforts to provide continuity and stability. Most importantly, Administration promised to frequently observe Mrs. Carey's performance and overall interaction with the class to ensure that optimal education remained a priority. Unfortunately, Administration failed to make appropriate adjustments in a timely manner and as a result our students were deprived of approximately 1/3 of a quality academic school year.
