| 1 | Bernice Gordon | This is a disgrace. The committee's first responsibility is to the people's who's culture they are taking from- not the dollar signs.
It wasn't in their right to use and profit from the locals without their consent and/or input. They've committed a cultural offense.
| 2 | Iris Gordon | Another bad example of cultural exploitation. | |

| 12 | Lor | Honestly, who gets away with this junk? I hate the idea that you can just '4kids-ify' a symbol of native culture. We Canadians are supposed to be TOLERANT of other cultures, not shove them off their land then exploit them for money. We WASPs arent the real Canadians, the NATIVES are, and their gods, spiritual entities, or whatever their called should be given the respect of being properly portrayed for the Olympic Games. | |
| 13 | Anonymous | Please show some respect for native cultures. Besides, those creatures deserve more than looking like hello kitty. | |
| 14 | Eden Parkinson | Please protect the culture! I am not Canadian, or of this ethic origin, but I still find this offensive that they'd completely ignore what they thought about how their symbols should be portrayed. | |

| 19 | Leslie M. | All we ask is that respect for the culture is given. No belief system or religion likes having things sacred them given such little consideration. This culture should be respected and give the same consideration as others. Please think on this and reconsider.
Thank you for your time.
| 20 | Tumelo Linchwe | Please, please, please, respect these cultural symbols...they are indescribably sacred. Even as an African, I understand that whole-heartedly...you, the Committee have to understand this as well. | |

| 23 | Lucy Tang | If they're going to choose a mascot at least choose something that's remotely related to the games instead of snagging another culture's symbols and drastically changing it to make it look like BEEP. | |

| 27 | Eric P. Hamar | I am glad that this petition is here, and hope that it will create a change. | Haida |
| 28 | Erin Mills | It's just sad that absolutely no research was put into the drawings of these symbols. There was no respect toward the communities that hold the symbols close to their hearts and to their cultures, but only the thought of money and coorperate gain. The least that could have been done in the first place was to contact local native artists to assist in the creation of the symbols. | |
| 29 | Clarissa Mellin | I'm not of any Band/Culture these creatures originate from but I was appauled and shocked when I compared the original to the redesigned olympic mascots. These abominations that were made for this event are degrading, shameful, and all in all the worst type of cultural abuse I have ever seen. The least anyone could do was commission a LOCAL ARTIST who actually knew what they were doing. | |
| 30 | Shoshannah | What happined to all our creatures? Since when did they turn into Hello kitty wanna-bes?! since when did they become skiing icons and such? and why get a chinese guy to design native designs?!!!!!!! | Haida |
| 31 | Heather Epp | The portrayal of these cultural and religious figures in a disgrace to what the Olympics is intended for. Instead of uniting the world in friendly competition, the Committee has alienated and insulted an entire tribe of people for the sake of merchandizing and what you consider 'cute'. I am sure none of this was intended to offend anyone, so those of us who have signed this petition are respectfully requesting these three mascots be changed. | |

| 35 | Luiza Gordon | If Canada choose to be represented through native symbols (no matter how reworked and unreal they look) it is only fair that the people this symbols belog to should have a say in it.
Uselles to mention that by involving the native community in creating these symbols it would not only restores the" credit to the rightful owner" , it would also most likely result in a better and more artistic effective product than the exiting poor little symbols which are actually ridiculous and a shame to the Canadian artistic community.

| 37 | Oisín Mac Suibhne | This could be easily rectified. | |
| 38 | Roshine | | |
| 39 | Alan Lisle | The route taken to produce icons to represent canada, all of canada was preposterous. Another waste of our hard earned dollars and a blatant slap in the face of west coast Native culture. | |
| 40 | Anonymous | The creation of these mascots was inappropriately approached and ineffectively executed.
It must be changed! | |
| 41 | M. Amber Bayles | I am not of the First Nation, but the misuse and distortion of a culture's symbols greatly offends me nonetheless. I would have expected better from an organization that is supposed to support international cultural diversity. | |

| 48 | Katherine Watt | I would find it extremely sad to know that the Olympic Committee would continue to use material which infringed upon cultural bounds after the discontentment of a culture was expressed. Especially when one of the purposes of the Olympics is to bring different nations and cultures from across the world together once every two years in peace and respect. Thank you for reading. | |
| 49 | Robyn Lourie | I'm greatly sadden to hear that the Vancouver native community was not asked to be included in designing these mascots.
Looking at the current mascots, in no way does it say "Vancouver" to me, and I feel ashamed to think how others outside our country will misunderstand what these cultural figures should be/look like.
If the world is going to see "native" mascots I feel that they should resemble the culture of which they are from more.
| 50 | Anonymous | those mascots are racist and discrimatory | |
