The petition

To the Olympic Committee,
We the undersigned, oppose the portrayal of the current 2010 Olympic Mascots on the following grounds:

1) The First Nation's community was not contacted in regard to the use, or portrayal of these cultural symbols.

2) The aforementioned peoples were not contacted in regards to contributing to the design of these symbols despite being of their ethnic origin.

3) The depictions of these characters have been distorted (both meaningfully and artistically) from their traditional forms.

As a result of these actions, the Committee has performed a social taboo that has offended the here-in petitioners.

We propose the Committee contact local native artists, and with their help, create acceptable, inoffensive, and culturally accurate depictions that will also benefit the community from that these symbols are derived.

Summarily, we feel the Committee has transgressed on the respectful boundaries of multi-culturalism and economic exploitation- a somewhat dualist action in light of Canada's facade as multicultural and tolerant.
