Return Fall Break to October

The petition

SMU's Fall Breaks in the recent past have always fell in mid-October. For some reason, both the 2007 and 2008 Fall Breaks have been moved to the same week as the university's Thanksgiving break. Many of you have probably heard of a couple reasons as to why this was done, but none of the explanations have seemed valid. Just as the Faculty Senate Calendar Committee worked to change the Spring 2008 calendar, we are sure that an amendment to the 2008-2009 Academic Calendar could be enacted at this point.
