Jeremy EdgeI agree totally with the sentiments of the petition and need to read through what everyone has written before putting my thoughts down in full. People may disagree vehemently with some of the ideas that I have but we can all agree that the event has been on a downhill slide for a number of years. I already have my flight booked and air matress space on my friends floor near Santa Anita-so by signing this it looks like i'll be doing something else on Friday!GB

SusieWhen was the last time "separate but equal" worked out well? I'm all for generating more fans, but a condescending day that also diminishes one of the greatest races of the year isn't going to do it.NYUS

Ed McCluskeyMost folks work Friday - no plans to wager or attend. Seen every BC race since the very first one, losing interest with the dilution of the categories, ("everybody gets a ribbon"), useless syn tracks, terrible sites like last year, etc. The Ladies Day angle seems rather gay. Racing suffers - marketers win.....in the short term.FLUS

Rebecca VitoI am not all that excited about watching a race that sounds as if it is named after a razor. As well, I am not able to take a Friday off work to devote to watching all my favorite filles and mares race. I guess I should only pay attention to the colts from now on.

Lois MarkI'm all for 2 days of Breeders Cup Races but Friday?? some of us have to work, you know! What's wrong with Sat/Sun? How all the sprint races on the first day? And "Ladies Classic "- ohmigod - I could have lived with "the Distaff Classic", but Ladies?PAUS
Marion E. AltieriI agree, wholeheartedly. It's time for American Thoroughbred racing to join the rest of the world, and grant female horses and female humans the respect they/we deserve as full equals in this sport.KYUS

John McVeyThis is not a good idea. The greatest thing about the BC was its diversity in racing. Without the females racing it changes everything.OHUS

Madison BerryEvery time I think about these changes, I try to understand why they thought this was a good idea. My dream would be for the champion mix to go back to Saturday, and the new races back to Friday. Or, an extended card, with the new races first, and the champion races right where they've always been, all in one day. That's how it should be. This separation of the sexes - no doubt intended the draw in the female crowd - has done nothing but make the fillies a second class of racing. And the use of "Ladies'" is degrading, and if nothing else, that is a change begging to be made. I can watch the races later on Youtube. The Breeders' Cup, I foresee, will do nothing but lose revenue. I will not be able to watch the female races, anyway, because of their terrible new schedule, and I imagine there are many, many other fans who will be in the same position. Nothing can recreate what the Oaks does to racing, and the thought that putting the female races on Friday would create any sort of "equality" sickens me. The non-graded races belonged on Friday - Friday racing is not as important as Saturday racing the the general public, and these races are not as big, graded or important as the long-standing champion races. Any fan will tell you as much. They're replayable, rewatchable at another time, not as many people cared. But the filly and mare champion races were loved and cared about since the very beginning of the Breeders' Cup - moving them to a lesser attended, lesser watched day is probably the worst idea I've ever heard.MOUS
Cheryl HuntAs a female horseplayer whose mother and grandmother died from breast cancer, I am particularly offended by this absurd attempt to try to link Friday's race card to women's health issues. I suppose the Breeders' Cup will add insult to the fan's injury by having all pink saddleclothes that day. And the good old boys in vested suits at the BC should consider that if they try to raise money for women's health matters on this day, those will be disposable income funds that would have otherwise been put into the wagering pools. Just an assinine move all the way around.KYUS
Cheryl SzczepkowskiI will not watch the Friday races on TV and I will not wager one nickle on that card. I encourage others to do the same.NYUS

Adrienne M AdolphsonThis is a disgrace to the pagentry and tradition that makes up the Breeder's Cup. Most years the Distaff is just a competitive and exciting as the Classic. Changing its name and pushing back ALL the filly and mare races to one day is just moronic. What a snub to all the great fillies, mares, and their owners and trainers.MNUS

Rebecca mccormackThey are not "Ladies" they are horses. Who thought that separating them was a good idea? are the people who did this aware that a lot of times fillies run in the mile? Now us people who have jobs won't be able to see some of the best breeders' cup races.PAUS
