On January 20, 2009 America will get a new president and a new era can begin.

 

There is much that needs to change, but instead of waiting for our elected officials to act, we believe that the American public should speak up and determine the direction our country will take.

 

We are a nation of different ideas and beliefs, but there are a few priorities that we believe most Americans share, and they should be the first order of business when George W. Bush leaves office.

 

We call on the new President and the new Congress to follow the leadership of the American people and:

 

á      End the misguided and unjustified war in Iraq.

á      Make healthcare available for all Americans, regardless of their employment status or ability to pay.

á      Create a sensible and just energy policy that responds to the challenge of global warming and puts America on a road to independence from fossil fuel.

It doesn't seem right to me that there are children without parents and parents without their children because they were either sent away to fight for the U.S. or they were killed by the U.S... Over what? Oil? Money? Power? I couldn't imagine losing my son or my father for any reason, especially such meaningless reasons. I would like for our right to privacy to be restored. I want the leaders all around the world to start making changes everywhere. Changes that will benefit the greater good and help the people that they are supposed to represent. No more money spent on weapons. Instead take all the money that would normally be used for destruction and use it for healing. Find cures, build homes, feed the hungry, educate the people. No more lies, no more propaganda, no more hatred or violence. No more. Please. My son deserves a future that is filled with hope and happiness. So does yours. And theirs. And our kids will someday have kids who will have kids. They deserve for us to work hard to fix everything that is broken. Stop discrimination based on race, religion, and any other thing. People are people. We all deserve to be treated as such. No more social classes or ridiculous taxes on the land that God gave us to live on. Billions of dollars should be spent on cleaning our mother earth and preserving all that we can. No more filling the land with garbage, pollution, and blood.
