(1) At the end of 2009, the UK government debt was £950,400,000,000.00 - equivalent to 68.1% of GDP.

(2) All civil servants received a pay rise in 2009/10. MP's will also receive a pay rise of £1,000 from April 2010.

(3) It is common knowledge that the vast majority of civil servants travel 1st class on trains, using public money to do so.

Those signing this petition would like the newly appointed UK government to introduce an expenses policy across all civil servants disallowing the use of public money for the purchase of 1st class rail travel.

Reimbursement should only be paid up to the value of 2nd class travel.

We believe this to be one small step in helping reduce the national debt, and frankly can't believe that it hasn't been put in place already!!
