A mentally ill 18-year old fired a shot in self-defense; NO ONE WAS IINJURED; turned self in; confessed and plead guilty but mentally ill to a 32 year plea. This young man was not given mitigation for mental illness and was sentenced to 40 years. When the victim pursued the 18 year old in order to rob him of drugs, the 18 year old defended himself from pursuers in his own neighborhood. The young man's appeal is in and wishes to be set free. He has already spent over 10 years incarcerated.
