Change or remove Kyle Field's planned 12 Empty Seat Memorial

To: John Sharp, Texas A&M Chancellor
Steven Moore, Vice Chancellor of Marketing and Communications

The signers of this petition acknowledge that they are against the addition of a 12 Empty Seat Memorial in Kyle Field. It's purpose is confusing, and it directly conflicts with the 12th Man tradition at Texas A&M. Twelve empty seats do not reflect the 12th Man spirit as well as 12 filled ones.

We, the Fightin' Texas Aggie students, former and current, respectfully request that you remove it from the Kyle Field Redevelopment Project.

Discussion

  • Kari Ramsey I strongly encourage the "powers that be" to reconsider this idea. It is a misguiding attempt to honor a great tradition at Texas A&M.

  • Zak we're already going to have a statue of 12 students outside the stadium. quit jamming new "traditions" dpwn our throats

8 months ago Comments: Too much confusion after reading Sharp's official response when questioned on the meaning of the 12 empty seats. Sharp's response--> "..This is to honor and remember all Aggies who have passed! When each game is televised I guarantee they will feature [these] seats. It will further solidify our ownership of the 12th man [and] it would be a big mistake not to do this." <--
