Comments: I think the city would be crazy to take such a space away and turn it into a homeleff shelfer. Also, what are tourists going to say when they see this; will they come back

Comments: I think its a very bad move for the city to put a homeless shelter at the heart of the entertainment district in Toronto. You are putting vulnerable people into an environment with young adults and alcohol. Combine this with the proposed all ages venue going into the area of Richmond and Duncan and you have major headaches waiting to happen for Toronto's great Police force every weekend. Of all the areas in Toronto, how can anyone see this as a good idea. Homeless people surrounded by drunken kids at 3am every friday and saturday night.

Comments: I don't mind the city helping out the homeless with shelters, but to obtain this expensive location for use is just another example of how mindless our councilours really are. I'm sure there are some discreet locations in the GTA available. If this does go through, I'd be truly embarrassed to hear what the tourists out clubbing have to say.

Comments: Do Not Let this happen! The club district should be a place to have fun, not for a shelter!

Comments: Phil, this is not a good idea. It may be a good idea in the short term, but in the long run, you are jeopardizing the businesses and employment in that area. As well, I don't think the homeless would enjoy a shelter in a party area.

Comments: This is a terrible location for a shelter. This area is a popular party hangout and has easy access to drugs and alcohol

Comments: There has to be other available empty real estate other than the corner in the entertainment district! Consider other options, do we really need homeless people interacting with drunk club goers

Comments: Adam Vaughn said: residents will welcome this shelter. No, we don't! While we recognize the need for a shelter, we strongly feel that this is not the right location for it. Imagine the combination of drunks, drugs and the homeless! What a safe community that would be!! I do not understand the rationale behind opening the shelter in this particular spot! The area is booming with new businesses, shops and condos - it is being re-vamped. How does a homeless shelter fit in If that happens, I would like to see Mr. Vaughn walk down that street with his family - day or night - and not worry about their safety!

Comments: Yesterday at 5pm I took a walk by 110 Edward St to see for myself the "benefit", as the city is describing it, this would bring to the area. I was first accosted by homeless man with bottle of alcohol in his hand who wouldnt let me pass, and every tmie i tried to pass he blocked me and stared me down. At the same time a guy fell out of the shelter completely drunk and intoxicated, carrying his cardboard sign. There were homeless people gathered outside and the location was dirty and rundown. THe shelter is not good for the area and will totally destroy what is known as the Entertainment District.

Comments: The city is land speculating. 5 millions dollars for 40 beds is over the top and this idea does not fit with calling the area the entertainment district.
