The petition
We the undersigned respectfully demand that the company known as Freedom Scientific refrain from such restrictive practices as follows,
1. Forcing the purchaser of any second hand version of jfw or other such software, to purchase an unwanted  latest version" as a condition of licence transfer.
The transfer fee should be sufficient.
2. That should a person selling an older version have remaining updates these should be valid under the licence transfer.
The cost of the jfw software already serves to restrict those of a lower income bracket and for f.s to use these unfair tactics prevents fair usage and
discrimination against aforesaid and those who do not wish to buy state of the art. The excuse that the market is limited no longer stands as more and
more people are diagnosed with eye problems each year and f.s sales reach out around the world.
This petition is not just for those who struggle financially to obtain such 'accessible software' but for those who save and purchase at great expense,
a piece of software that they are later penalised should they wish to sell and upgrade. Would a car owner buy a new car and after 3 years leave it in the
garage and buy a new one? I think not, so why should vip and word disabled persons be any different? Sign now and help stop this practice, let our voices
be heard, why should it be that we must always pay! Pay! pay!, why must so many of us have to suffer the indignity of asking charities for help while with
a little thought f.s and others like them could be a little more open handed and understanding towards those of fixed incomes.
