I am honored to be able to do at least something.("the children are crying -from over the edge. The women, they tried, but they died too instead. The soldiers were shooting. Many did fall. Warriors, women, children and all...")-blondeindianFlag

Name: Kathryn Price NicDh on Jun 19, 2008Comments: If the descendants of the recipients of these medals are proud of the medals and want to keep them, they need to rethink their position, and listen to the voices of the relatives of those who were slaughtered. The quotes from all the ancestors who were present on that awful day speak for themselves. Returning the medals could be an opportunity for healing and reconciliation. If the descendants could meet and find some resolution. But whether or not a meeting is appropriate, it is time to make clear that the actions of the murderers at Wounded Knee were not honourable, and not deserving of reward.Flag

Name: Marilyn Traver on Jun 19, 2008Comments: This period of time in history is horrific to say the least. And to think that every soldier was given a Congressional Medal of Honor is a travesty. I have been to the Wounded Knee mass grave and have seen (and felt) for myself the cries of those killed. Please rescind the awards.Flag

Name: Istah'ota on Jun 19, 2008Comments: i fully support the rescinding of these medals, the idea makes my heart Sing! Many of my family died in this nightmare, but, imho, if we wish them to take us Serious instead of as childish or peckish, as many of the 'proud amerikans' already certainly do, perhaps it might be accepted with more good grace, without the DIS in front of Honour ishiFlag

Name: Tsissy NAU ~ Native American Unity on Jun 19, 2008Comments: Why give men medals for murdering innocent men, women and children Why are they to be honored You think this was an honorable act This was nothing more than barbaric cold blooded murder! American History is a thing you should feel shame of, not honored by. You pin a medal on a man for blatent muder of our peoples, and wonder why we have no trust You can never bring back those who lost their lives, but you CAN make a gesture in the right direction. Step up and do the right thing.Flag
