Comments: It is an insult to every Medal of Honor awardee that these despicable acts were rewarded with the same medal that represents courage and intrepidity above and beyond the call of duty. The United States should be ashamed that the members of the Seventh Cavalry that participated in the massacre were not tried in a military court, dishonorably discharged from the service and executed for murder.

Comments: my skin is white. when i arrived in his home the red man offered to share with me in the great abundance. instead i abused him. i lied and cheated, raped and murdered, stole and wrote my history books with stories of my greatness. i awarded medals of honour to the soldiers who slaughtered innocent women and children at wounded knee. this was a genocide, and yet still my elder brother prays for me, and directs me to the one god and the possibility of peace. where is the justice? do i deserve his forgiveness? may god have mercy on my savage and loathsome european soul.

Comments: This heinous massacre dishonors the United States and to honor those responsible is reprehensible. The least that can be done is to rescind medals which should never have been given in the first place. It is long overdue for the government to take responsibility for the atrocities they have done and show that they are truly willing to begin the healing.
