Traci | n the Wounded Knee Massacre, on December 29, 1890, 500 troops of the U.S. 7th Cavalry, supported by four Hotchkiss guns, surrounded an encampment of Miniconjou Sioux (Lakota) and Hunkpapa Sioux (Lakota) near Wounded Knee...

william Harvey | Atrocious Crimes committed by inhuman regimes throughout the world cannot be criticised by the US government until they finally recognise there own barbaric history.
Inward Dayton Rodgers | It is a disgrace to America to award medals for such an act. The medals should be rescinded.
A. Wenkert | Return these medal of dishonor
S.B. | I absolutely support this petition. I cant and I will never understand how the Europeans could act in such a cruel way back in time. Time to set the history right, time that these medals be sescinded and time that the native americans get back this what belongs to them...their country!!!
Anonymous | I fully support removing these medals and leaving the Medal of Honor only for those who served and defended this country honorably.
stan brokenleg |
Joseph Pilon-Long | They were not earned and serve to further disgrace an already sordid history.
Anonymous | im tired of that no good gov.......... leave these people alone feds
Matthew Read |
Darcy Hoff | I am speechless
vickie mears |
Sue Clayton | I agree with everything stated in this petition. In Australia, where I live, the Government......Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, publicly apologized to all the indigenous people in the country, for the wrongs that had been done since the country became colonized. I feel strongly that the U.S and Canadian governments need to do the same.

Barbara Clark |
Wolf Cummings (Oglala Lakota) | As long as these awards & this military flag emblem stand, the Native People will regard the United States Government as a cruel, conniving, hostile occupying force. I implore you to begin the reconciliation now by acknowledging & correcting past & present treacheries against the Native People. Do this so that you may not be a hypocrite when you speak of American freedom & justice.

AJ Melk | I was... I am... I shall always be DAKOTAH!
Larry M Powell | It is unfortunate when those who are bravely "doing their job" are forced to break the law and the moral code of God. It is unfortunate when they lack the moral courage to "do the right thing" in the face of adversity. It is an even bigger outrage to reward them with Metals that are also worn by patriots far more deserving.
Victorio | Indignation pure et simple.....que Custers et ses hommes reposent en enfer et que les braves trouvent la pais suprême!
Miles Wilson |
Jennifer Buckman | To "honor" the Army for the murder of innocents is beyond dispicable. These medals need to be rescinded NOW.
Joan Britz | When will the United States Government be held accountable for all these crimes against humanity? The United Nations has held other countries accountable for their atrocities so why not the United States? I think medals to be awarded for people killed is a horrible thing to do. I think they should be melted down and place as offerings of sorts at the site where so many lost their lives.
He-ska-win Shot | All the suffering our ancestors been through the hundreds of years of pain that our people suffer even up to this day its bout time some things be made right!
karen hernandez | giving them the medals was shameful.this government should have known better, that is like awarding a trophy to ben laden for his role in 9/ 11.our people have a right to recall all rights of the white man.

Rick Tipton aka, Storm Dancer | This is just one of the despicable outrages brought upon the people by a government without honor!
Anonymous |
Ramona | These medals do need to be removed
tami groom | just think if these were your family. you children, mothers and fathers brothers and sisters nices and nephews. they are all gathered together severy hypotherma no weapons being promised food shelter and clothing then slaughtered by drunken soldiers. then they get a medal for the killed to boot. what would YOU do?
| 3600 | Victorio | The genocide of Wounded Knee has to leave untold, the American state has to recognize its crime publicly because; the massacres immortalized against the Amerindians generally should be recognized and indemnified.
To Wounded Knée it is the women, the old men and the children that were victims of the inhumanity of the American army to avenge the death of the war criminal Custer which we want to take for hero.
Tasunka Witko fought him on the war ground and beat him to prove him that the nice show their bravery in the battle. |
