We feel that it is unfair to the students and to the parents that 10th graders not be allowed to have their car on campus. While it is reasonable if the school was place in a remote area such a Woodberry, but since it is in the middle of the city a car is necessary. Other wise 10th graders are forced to stay on dorm at night, or ask a day student for a ride. Most of us play sports, and so after sports we are stranded here, which creates resentment towards the school. While we love Saint Mary's, not every being able to leave unless we walk, which is only during day light hours, is very stressful. We believe it will be beneficial to the community for 10th grade boarders to have their car's on campus since it will be easier for us to all go out together and bond. It is also inconvenient to our parents who often have to drive hours to come get us to bring us home, when we could simply drive ourselves home. It also limits the activities we can participate in after school. Raleigh is full of interesting programs that one can get involved in, but because we cannot get transportation without paying for a taxi we cannot become involved. The 10th grade would greatly appreciate the privilege to be allowed to have their cars on campus.
