"The No New Taxes Pledge"

Pledge: "As a candidate for the office of California's Governor, I declare that if I win the election, I will not raise taxes in the great state of California."

To: This pledge is to the people of the great state of California.

For: This pledge is for all of the gubernatorial candidates in California.

Why?: The citizens of California deserve to know where the candidates stand on new taxes.  By signing this pledge, you are assuring the people of the great state of California that you won't be increasing their taxes.  Conversely, if you avoid signing this pledge, it also sends a message to them and the media.

Press: A notification of this pledge was sent to all of the 2003, gubernatorial candidates in California, on August 19, 2003.  All of the information below is on public record and disclosed to all voters, citizens, and media outlets.
