| 802 | Luke | Hamilton | SC | US | Please let me know if there is anything I can do personally to help preserve such a historically significant landmark. If one is allowed to develop the island even in the slightest way (two houses, bed and breakfast, etc), Whos to say there wont be a twenty story resort hotel built there in 20 years. We've all seen the negative impact of over development. Lets put a stop to it here and now. |

Everywhere you look there is nothing but construction anymore all over the United States. Its sad to say but our kids and their kids and their kids,by that time the world will have almost no place for history or wildlife if men and women of greed continue to destroy heritage and nature. The only good thing is when there time is up on this planet, almighty will strike them down for the destruction of mother earth, and no I am not an activist. |

I would like to in the future be able to bring my own children here and my yet to be seen grandchildren here. I'm sure they would enjoy it. Don't you think. |

| 825 | Hal Albert | Smith | SC | US | Preserve the Island, its history, and its wildlife. Turn it into a park with boardwalks, kayaking, etc. So visitors and tourists can enjoy it. It could even have an exhibit like Fort Moultire and Ft Sumter do. Think of all the people who lost there lives there. It should be a park, not a gated community. |

| 831 | John | Miller | PA | US | My organization is also working toward preserving a peice of Civil War History here in Pa. The second largest battle that took place in Pa/Md on July 4-5, 1863. Preserving Civil War battlefields are the only monuments that can be passed down to the next generation and also keeping natural barriers against the urban spraw that keeps growing. I would like to one day be able to visit Morris Island and admire it just as I and my family had admired Charleston. Keep the good work up and stop the spraw. Remember Robert Shaw, the 54th, and remember the Confederates that fought there as well. |
| 832 | Therese | Moormeier | WA | US | I can only volunteer from a far distance, but I am very interesting in making sure the lighthouse is around forever. I recently starting working on my family genealogy and discovered that my grandmother was raised at the lighthouse - my great grandfather, Angus Bennett, was a keeper from 1883-1903. He and my greatgrandmother had 12 children, all of which were raised there. It is definitely a part of my life and I will do whatever you would like to assist. |

Many of them live out of state and don't care about the longterm problems they leave behind them as they return to their small towns out of state with our money in their hands simply in hopes of being big frogs in little ponds. |
