South Broads Lifeboat
In 2001 The RNLI’s first inland inshore lifeboat station was opened on 12 July. A Ford Ranger 4x4 and an XP inshore lifeboat are on service providing a valuable resource to all visitors and users of the South Broads.
In the first four months the lifeboat crew had carried out 18 launches and rescued 35 people.
In 2004 South Broads lifeboat station was confirmed as a permanent RNLI station.
The current station is temporarily based in part of the old Hampton Boats site at Oulton Broad and has been awaiting a permanent station facility in order to carry on this valuable service.
Over the last few months a lot of work has been done to find a suitable location to house the facility.
Now that a suitable location has been found local businesses are objecting to the proposal, stating that it would be “A blot on the landscape” and that it would affect future business proposals for the area. I.E. Money Making ventures oppose to a Rescue Service. All these objections despite the fact that this would be adjacent to a taller structure than the proposed Lifeboat Station.
This Lifeboat has already saved lives please support them so they may continue to do so.
Add your name here to give your support to the crew in their quest for adequate facilities so they may continue to save lives in this highly used part of the Broads, Thank-you. |
