TonyLinneyKYI want this bill defeated.
RussellMartinUSThe National Weather Service Duties Act of 2005, Senate Bill S.786, is an outrageous attempt by Sen. Santorum to line the pockets of a private company in his state by restricting access to what up until now has been, and by rights should be, freely accessible public information. As a professional meteorologist I strongly oppose this proposed legislation! Russell Martin

TommyThorntonTXUSWe are a small city with limited budget. We depend on the free data provided from the NWS. There comes a time when the polictical boundaries need to stop and focus on providing as much information as possible to protect property and save lives. DO NOT PASS THIS BILL. Thank You

TroyKimmelTXUSIt's pretty obvious that the honorable Senator Santorum is at the end of the puppet strings of Joel Myers.
ThomasAbellINUSThis proposed legislation is unfair to the taxpayers.

JosephMastandreaNEUSMaintain access to NWS products online because we already paid for them with tax dollars. Let the resellers pay for the entire NOAA budget if they want to block public access to weather information.
TriciaPiattNEUSI am against this bill. It would put too many lives at risk. We get weather reporting now and it works......don't break something that so many people depend on.
JackieKeeseeOHUSI consider this very important especially since we seem determined to poison the environment....

DennisGablerUSMy taxes pay for the information and sensor systems that the private services also use. We the taxpayers should not lose equal access to this data.

RobertTarlingUKSir, I feel that this decision is motivated by $, and greed, and will prove to be a retrograde step. The NWS hasn't been equalled, let alone surpassed by 'commercial' operations. Keep the NWS, and its' data, free to all who need it.
JeffreyRobinsonMDUSI am an avid EMWIN user and weather spotter and do not think that the US Gov't. should GIVE AWAY anything to private weather contractors. The wording should change so that NWS does NOT have to give in to private contractors. FREE should mean just that. FREE. I purchased equipment in my office to receive the EMWIN from the EMWIN coordonator in WALLOPS VA. It is a great benefit and public safety is my number one priority. Thanks you...

Michael CohenUSI believe in the great work done by the National Weather Service and I want to know why the Senator from Pennsylvania and Accuweather from Pennsylvania want to destroy a part of Homeland security. We depend on the NWS and so does our military. I would not like to see this in private hands who have their own intentions.
ChristopherDodsonKYUSThis bill needs to be defeated. We need more funding and support for the National Weather Service. We do not need groups or companies trying to come up against them. The NWS has saved lives and continues to save lives. Do not pass a bill that will weaken the agency.

HarrisonMindlinMAUSDo not sacrifice the superior services provided by the NWS for the far less accurate and comprehensive services provided to the public by such companies as Accuweather. You will be doing a huge disservice to the public and perhaps even put the citizens that you represent in jeopardy.

JanSterlingNYSenator R. Santorum should focus more attention on the mounting deficit rather than the well performing unbiased service that consumes very little of the national budget yet provides, at times, life saving service.

MattZiebellGAPrivatization of information sourced by the taxpayers is morally wrong.

JackBelichFLUSThis bill should be known as the AccuWeather Protection Act. It's disgusting to think that our Congress is even considering reducing the critical role played by the National Weather Service. If you want real competition, let AccuWeather and the other commercial providers provide their services WITHOUT using any of the NWS raw data. If this were to happen, then we'd see some real competition--very unlikely the commercial vendors would want to invest in a data collection network--they'd rather use the "free" NWS data. Kill this bill in committee--it doesn't deserve to see the light of day.
