| 157 | Fred H. | Francis | US | I'd like to add my name to the petition to restore "The Sand Pebbles". In the current national situation, I believe the restored film would make good business sense in limited/art-house release, and even greater sense in "collectors" DVD and VHS formats.
Moreover, the value of this film as an educational tool, for young and old, is not to be underestimated; it's not that the film is a documentary, but that it accurately portrays the feelings in our society and in individuals within our society , at that time.

version of this epic film available on DVD has a running time of 182 minutes.
Thank you,

| 177 | Kevin | Farrell | UK | Robert Wise is my favourite Hollywood director and it is a war crime for any studio, simply for commercial reasons, to cut any of his works: would an art gallery trim edges off a painting because wall space did not permit its exhibition?
Twentieth Century Fox must be urged to look at the Sand Pebbles as one of the most important films: its message that American intervention is not always welcome in other parts of the world (Iraq, Vietnam etc) cannot be often repeated.

| 193 | Dan | Trembula | US | This movie is of vital importance to our Naval Heritage for it memorializes an oft-forgotten part of the 20th Century. Yet, when viewed, one cannot avoid getting the feeling that "something is missing." There are too many parts of the current version that fall flat because parts of the original movie were edited out. Please restore them to make a good movie great. |
