I am an older worker, set to lose my job this year, after spending 8 years doing temporary assignements. I have not health insurance or any benefits since 1991. I spoke with a woman today who does collections and has lost her job, because the company is taking it to India so they can pay one american salary and get 3 workers over there or even more for the price of 1 here. I see immigrants better off than working americans. I take a bus everywhere, they drive new vehicles. I own nothing while they pay cash for homes over $100,000 dollars. I have to look for a job, they own businesses. There is something very wrong here. In the 60's and 70's I worked for $1.00 per hour and tips, yet I was better off financially than I am now. I dont have any savings, no pension, nothing. I make too much to get food stamps, yet am below poverty level. I cannot get Medical Assistance because I make to much and am below poverty level. But every immigrant, legal or not can get Welfare, food stamps, free medical, etc. There is something wrong with this picture. So much for the American Dream or should I say it is not the Non-American dream because they are the only ones able to obtain it, compliments of the USA Governement. |
